Tyler-PortTyler Hoene is the owner and manager of Coconut Kuleana, Maui’s fastest growing Spike-free palm trimming service.

Being privileged enough to be born and raised on Maui, Tyler Hoene has grown to understand the value of living a conscious lifestyle. At a very young age he developed a passion for music, surfing and living off the land. He quickly picked up the ability to play guitar and enjoys playing for family and friends. Coming from a very loving family, Tyler treats everything with respect and compassion. He applied the same sense of respect to the land as he grew older and greatly appreciates how abundant and lively the island of Maui is. Tyler has great reverence for the coconut palm and its ability to provide nourishment in a prolific manner.  This is what inspires Coconut Kuleana to conserve the coconut palm for years to come.

Tyler believes that sustainability and a return to a more natural way of life will heal people and the island. His part in caring for the aina is to trim palms artfully without using harmful spiked boots and helping coconut growers increase their yields and keep their palms healthy.

Tyler’s Maui family values come through in the respect he shows for his clients and for the palms. He is honored to serve you in making your property safe and beautiful and your palms healthy and productive. When Tyler is not climbing coconut palms he can be found playing Gypsy Jazz with his buddy Samson Taylor.

Samson-PortraitSamson Taylor grew up in upcountry Maui.

His whole life he was surrounded by the beauty of nature, learning to appreciate a self sustainable lifestyle and the value of planting trees to feed his family. The quality of his lifestyle has inspired him to take care of the land, respecting and honoring his island home.

He feels the responsibility to trim trees to protect people from falling coconuts and to keep the trees healthy and abundantly producing. Samson has extensive experience and knowledge about palm trees.

He works with the same network of people he has known and grown up with his whole life. For Samson, palm tree trimming is a life style choice, as custodian of the land, and as an educator he wants to sustain and preserve the life and abundance of palm trees.
